Nursing Home Abuse / Neglect

There are nearly 2 million elderly adults living in nursing homes throughout the United States . With the increasing number of residents has come an increasing number of incidences of nursing home abuse and neglect. We aggressively represent injured nursing home residents and their families.

The majority of the cases result from the reckless or negligent behavior of nursing home staff. Examples of actions that can constitute abuse and neglect are repeated falls, malnutrition, assault, bedsores, unreasonable physical restraint or failure to restrain, sexual assault, medication errors, deprivation of food and water, or failure to provide medical care.

The best way to prevent the abuse is to frequently visit your loved one at different times of day. If you notice bruises or sudden changes in behavior, ask the staff and be sure to insist that the problem be addressed. Try to get to know other residents and nurses on your loved one’s hall. Your visits will not only lift the spirits and encourage your loved one, but may help you detect or prevent abuse.
